Geothermal heat pumps, also called ground source heat pumps, use the ground instead of outside air to provide heating, air conditioning and, in many cases, hot water. Because of the earth's natural even temperature and huge mass, Geothermal heat pumps are among the most efficient and comfortable heating and cooling technologies currently available. Geothermal heat pumps qualify for the 30% Tax Credit.

In winter, water circulating inside a sealed loop absorbs heat from the earth and carries it to the heat pump. Here it is compressed to a higher temperature and sent as warm air to your indoor system for distribution throughout your home or building. In the summer, the system reverses and expels heat from your home or building to the cooler earth via the loop system. This heat exchange process is not only natural, but is a truly ingenious and highly efficient way to create a comfortable climate indoors.

Energy Star rated geothermal heat pumps meet strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.
